Community and Us

The Meat-Processing Industry "Brothers Pivac" appears as a disirable social partner in its endeavours to be a "good citizen", both in its trade and beyond it. Hence, we set aside substantial funds for various sponsorships and donations, supporting the activities of different organizations, associations and clubs. In 2006 alone, a fund of not less than 200.000,00 kn has been made available for the funding of sports, for gifts and sponsorships.

Our commitment is noticeable in:

  • The promotion of a healthy way of life and the development of physical culture by making donations to various sports clubs and happenings (MNK [indoor-soccer club] Vrgorac, RK [handball club] Vrgorac, Bargeman Association Staševica, KBK [kick-boxing club] Croatia, Athletics club Sveti Marko, MRK [handball club] Dugo Selo-55, etc).
  • Sponsoring non-profitable associations and taking part in humanitarian projects and charity events as a means of giving support and making a contribution to the solution of hardships connected to the general public, which includes keeping one’s ear to the ground, the recognition and dealing with problems and needs of the socially handicapped on a local basis (the HVIDRA Association Split, the European Educational Center for the Blind, the Association of the Disabled of Cerebral Palsy, the Clinical Hospital Split, the Association of Retired Persons Obrovac, the Women’s House and various other humanitarian activities).
  • The ardent support of cultural projects, both on a local and national basis, for the sake of promoting and enhancing the quality of the cultural life in our community (KUD Sirena, the Croatian Literary Circle, various individual artists, the manifestation "S Tinom u Vrgorcu" ["With Tin in Vrgorac"], etc).
  • Taking an active part in the development of projects alloted to the education of young people, especially when it comes to meat processig, in the course of which we hire young butchers after finishing the Vocational School "Tin Ujević" – Vrgorac. With numerous scholarships we also both support and encourage socially handicapped people, as well as those gifted to continue their education or upgrading - each year we grant 10 scholarships.

Believing that Mother Earth has always been and will always be our most important partner, environmental protection and high ecological standards taken together form one of the basic principles of the Meat-Processing Industry "Brothers Pivac". The environmental protection plan implicates all-encompassing solutions for effluents, air pollution and waste disposal. The manufacturing process taken as a whole, starting from the raw material and ending with the final product, underlies completely the valid legal guidelines for environmental protection which are beeing in effect in the EU.

Living and working in harmony with men and nature, we protect our environment by making sustained investments into ecological standards and by applying the principle of sustainable development in accord with global standards.
